EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Technique. It is a form of psychological acupressure, based on the same energy meridians used in traditional acupuncture to treat physical and emotional ailments for over five thousand years, but without the invasiveness of needles. Simply stated, it is tapping with the fingertips to help reduce stress.
EFT has been proven to be effective in treating a wide variety of issues including: anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), pain management, weight loss, food cravings, sleep disorders and many more.
How Does EFT Work?
The basic premise of EFT is that all negative emotions are caused by disruptions in the body’s energy system. When these disruptions occur, they can cause physical symptoms such as pain, weight gain, cravings, etc. By using EFT tapping sequences on specific points on the face and body, you can help re-balance the energy system and reduce or eliminate the negative emotions and physical symptoms.
For example, let’s say you have a fear of public speaking. This fear might be caused by a disruption in your energy system. By tapping on specific points while saying certain statements out loud, you can help re-balance your energy system and reduce or eliminate the fear of public speaking.
There are nine tapping points located on the face and upper body that correspond to specific energy meridians. These points are:
-top of the head
-eyebrow
-side of the eye
-under the eye
-under the nose
-chin
-collarbone
-underarm
To find these points, just follow these simple instructions:
Top of Head: With your index fingers together move them up an inch or two above your eyebrows in line with the centre of your head until you feel a small dip or indentation.
Eyebrow Point: Place your index finger above and to one side of your nostril at the start of your eyebrow . You will feel a small muscle twitch when you have found it. Use gentle pressure while tapping this point. Note which side you start with as you will need to tap evenly on both sides later on during the sequence.
Under Eye Point: Place your index fingers below your eyes about 1” below your pupil . Again use gentle pressure while tapping this point – too much pressure can cause bruising so take care not to over do it!
EFT is a simple yet powerful tool that can help you reduce stress and improve your overall well-being. If you’re looking for an alternative to traditional medicine or therapy, EFT might be worth trying out. Give it a go today!
